A friend asked me what an NFT is.

When you were little, your mom put you in the back of the car and drove you around to run some errands. One of the errands was dropping off a check to cash at the bank.

You drive to the bank’s drive-through window, your mom puts the check into the little capsule, and (FOOM!) the capsule shoots away through the tube.

Then — (FOOM!) — the capsule comes back, with no check. Inside instead is a little piece of paper, and, because you were well-behaved — a lollipop.

You take a look at the lollipop and think, gee, that lollipop is worth $10,000!

That is what an NFT is.
